While on business trip in 2007, Michael wondered into a wine shop on 23rd Street, between 6th and 7th Avenue in Manhattan to pick up a bottle of wine for a dinner party that evening. Knowing close to nothing about wine, he randomly selected a Bordeaux from Pauillac and after the first taste the rest became history. That was the bottle that began an intense love affair with wine, particularly Bordeaux-style blends that deliver fruit and minerality with savory mouth-watering tannin. The natural progression of curiosity led Michael to learn more about Napa and its unique ability to produce world class wines, many crafted in that very same Bordeaux-style tradition that now dominate his cellar. 

Upon purchasing a property with his partner in the famed Coombsville AVA of Napa Valley, the allure of crafting his own wine and making a mark on the very style that he fell in love with nearly 20 years ago was an opportunity too difficult to ignore. Thus, STICKA CELLARS was born with the mission to craft wines that not only reflect the terroir, beauty, and elegance of Napa Valley and Sonoma County but bring about togetherness for all those sharing a bottle.

While not at the winery or in the vineyards, Michael blends his passions for music and education as the President/CEO of the world-renowned GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles, CA.
